Brethren,
The upcoming Installation will be on the 19th October 2011. The Lodge will tyle at 08:30 am and visitors will be admitted at 09:15 am or before, so that all general visitors are in the lodge before Obligations and retirement of the Officers of the lodge sector.
As outgoing WM, I call upon all Brethren to support the New WM. His visiting programme will always be in the summons and the Brethren have his contact details for the appropriate action.

Thank you Brethren for your support over the past two years. It has been an incredible journey!

Note: Brethren, it is one thing to attend our lodge meetings but, it is another to ask ourselves,
"What is it that we can do to improve performance, make lodge attendance a fulfilling and rewarding experience and also increase our membership.

If you can accompany me on any of the range of visits scheduled to other Lodges for May 2011, you would be most welcome, you have my email & phone No. I look forward to your company.

THE BIRTH OF AN IDEA

In view of the number of Day Lodges being formed in the Northern Districts of Perth, some members of the craft felt there was a need for one in the Wanneroo area, which caused a notice to be placed in the October 1987 issue of the Masonic Monthly Bulletin and also in the Wanneroo Times, asking for expressions of interest.

Subsequently, in November 1987, the inaugural meeting was held at the Curnow Knucky Masonic Centre, 3A Moolanda Boulevard Kingsley, from which a steering committee was formed.

The steering committee operated under the guidance and Chairmanship of W. Bro. Basil Best whilst W Bro. John Lavers agreed to act as secretary, an onerous task indeed, but transformed into John holding the position until October 2008 when he stepped down in favour of W.Bro Ray Drury. Very Worshipful Bro. Rod Cobain** offered to examine and bring up to date much of the regalia presented to the group by other lodges.

RW Bro. R. Downing was asked to act as treasurer and to examine the financial requirements of setting up a new Lodge, while W Bro. P. Todd offered to investgate what would be involved in presenting a petition to The Grand Lodge of Western Australia.

At the same time W Bro. N. Ellis provided ideas for a Lodge Logo and a song for the welcoming of Visitors at the Festive Board.

The second meeting took place in February 1988 attended by approximately 25 interested Brethren. Each was asked to provide his Masonic background and personal introductions were forged.

After considerable discussion it was decided to name the new Lodge "Kingsley Day Lodge" and that the Lodge meeting times should be at 9:00 am on the Third Wednesday of each month January - February excepted. Rehearsal to be held in the morning of each second Wednesday.

It was felt at that stage that thirty members would be the minimum number of Brethren required to form an effective viable Lodge and those present were asked to make every effort to contact other Brethren who would be interested in joining the new Lodge.

RW Bro. Downing submitted for consideration by those present a set of By-Laws which were carefully examined, amended where it was felt necessary and that it should be presented for ratification at the first legal Lodge meeting should the Lodge be formally constituted and opened.

By June 1988 further meetings having been held at monthly intervals, nominations were received for the officers chairs and after baollots had been held, the following brethren were elected.

Members were asked to provide all their masonic details and certificates prior to the formal presentation of the "Partition" to form a lodge could be completed, signed and presented.

It was proposed to hold the Consecration Ceromony, followed by the Instalation of officers on the third Wednesday in September 1988. However, unfortunately the Grand Master MW. Bro Arthur Smith, was unable to keep that date free and as a cosequence the ceromonies were post poned to 12th October 1988, the second Wednesday of the month instead.

An Occasional Lodge was tyled at 9:30am by W. Bro J. Edwick of the sponsor lodge, Wanneroo Lodge No 349 WAC and was raised to the Third Degree, after which visitors were admitted.

Then followed the reception of the representatives of the R. W. District Grand Master of the District Grand Lodge of Western Australia, under the Grand Lodge of Scotland in the person of Bro. Fred Sweeney and the Most Worshipfull Grand Master M.W. Bro. Arthur Smith

Social Activities

There will be and it is hoped there will be quite a few new or different and cheaper events for the year:
Please note that Booking Attendance Sheets will be available progressively for each event some two months in advance of the regular meeting for the remainder of the masonic year including the Installation in October.
The WM is asking the Brethren to come forward early with ideas and in particular for ideas on raising funds for Benevolence.
